Integrate Gmail in Outlook 2007

First of all why I wrote the article "Integrate Gmail in Outlook 2007", because I've been using Outlook and there are some advantages if you use Outlook.

There are more benefits when we opened the email using a mail client software such as Microsoft Outlook : Such access will be faster because we do not need to open a browser to login, with no ads and no pop-up windows browser. We can see the contents of the email that is downloaded to the cache in Outlook Express when offline. We can do a backup of the email. If Outlook Express is damaged, you can restore from the backup file. We can also move email from one computer to another by using a backup copy of data.

As I explained in previous post, Gmail (google mail) is the best free email when present, because the capacity Gmail is almost unlimited and Gmail supports POP3. POP3 function enables the user to be able to download all the email contents to the hard disk via an email client program.

The procedure we have to do is :

Enabling POP3
Before you can use Gmail in email client program, we first have to activate the POP3 from Gmail web interface.
  1. Log in to the Gmail http://mail.google.com. Do as usual,enter your user name and password.

  2. Upon entry to the main page e-mail, click on settings in the top right page.

  3. In the page setting, turn on Enable POP for all mail. Click the Save Changes to start the change this setting.

  1. Open Outlook 2007
  2. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings...
  3. From the Account Settings dialog box click the New button to add a new account.
  4. Choose Microsoft Exchange...then click Next
  5. Fill your name in the Your Name box, email address, your password. Make sure Manually configure option, then click Next.
  6. Select Internet E-mail, then click Next.
  7. Fill in your name and your email address in the User Information. In the Server information select Incoming mail server : pop.gmail.com and outgoing mail server (SMTP) : smtp.gmail.com. In the Logon Information enter email login name (username) and password. Remember password and Require logon is enabled. Then click the More Settings button.
  8. In the Outgoing Server tab, select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  9. On the Advanced tab, fill in the Incoming server (POP3): 995. Enable the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
  10. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, enter 587, and select TLS from the drop-down menu next to Use the following type of encrypted connection.
  11. Check in the Leave a copy of messages on the server, so that the mail that has entered into Microsoft Outlook, are saved and can be opened via the internet browser.
  12. To Test the settings are correct, click on Test Account Settings.
  13. If successful, the status will be Completed no error. Like the image below.
  14. Click Close, and on the next window click Next and click Finish.
Congratulations!. we've been able to access gmail (google mail) with Microsoft Outlook 2007.
